The silver tip claim is 140 acres and almost two miles of creek. Email or Call the State representative in Texas, Daniel Klepac, email: DJK1829@AOL.com for directions and information on working this claim.
Claim Regulation
1. Panning and sluicing only... no motorized equipment (By Bureau of Land Management).
2. All prospecting will be done within the course of the stream bed.
3. Metal detecting is allowed, but only within the stream bed. The most of the old mines sites in this area are protected under the Antiquities Act or other similar regulations.
4. Camping is allowed, but only in designated areas. Information on those areas is available at the Red River Chamber of Commerce.
Many of these rules are local policies and regulations of the BLM (Bureau of Land Management). We may find that we can expand our working of this claim but for right now please follow the regulations set forth. Be sure to check on road conditions, and fire hazard regulations for the area when you arrive or before. We are not notified when changes occur. Each member is responsible for knowing the local regulations. We will try to post the most up to date information but you still need to check for changes with local agencies. Other people recreate in these areas as with all mining areas. If some one is curious about prospecting show them what we do and direct them to AMPO if they are interested in joining or want more information.
